Take The First Step
Our approach

Support tailored to your child
We know that every child and person is different, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Some benefit from learning practical tools to manage anxiety and emotions, while others need time and space to feel safe, open up, and explore their experiences.
At Fitzgerald Therapy, we tailor our approach to your child’s needs helping them build confidence, develop emotional skills, and feel more in control of their world.
We also work closely with parents, supporting you to better understand your child and feel more confident in how you respond at home.

How we support your child
Our work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, tailored to your child’s needs. This means we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach—we choose strategies that will best support your child in managing emotions, building confidence, and coping with challenges.
We draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Helps children and teens understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected, and learn practical ways to manage anxiety and challenges. - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Supports young people to manage big emotions, build distress tolerance, and develop healthier coping strategies. - Trauma-informed care
Creates a safe and supportive environment that recognises the impact of past experiences, helping your child feel secure and understood throughout therapy.
Our approach is always adapted to your child—focusing not just on behaviours, but on the underlying emotions and experiences that shape how they feel and respond.
"Unlock your unique strengths and values, and embark on a journey towards a more fulfilling, enriched life."

Why see a counsellor or psychologist for mental health support?
Psychology works
Psychologists are trained health professionals, offering mental health support that is both evidence-based and compassionate. Psychology has been shown to improve emotional and psychological wellbeing, and is linked with positive changes within the body. Psychology works within a holistic approach that goes beyond traditional ideas around mental health in order to assist you in achieving your goals.
Psychology helps you understand yourself on a deeper level
Psychologists work together with their clients to form a therapeutic relationship that helps them better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By doing so, you are able to develop better coping skills and build resilience.
Psychologists care about your long-term goals
Psychologists take a different approach than other health professionals, focusing on creating long-term relationships with their clients. Psychologists firmly believe in working collaboratively with their clients to achieve their goals and help them lead a fulfilling life. We will be with you every step of the way, offering professional support and quality care.

Where possible, we prefer to conduct appointments face-to-face at our location in Arana Hills. We can, however, offer appointments through Zoom if this is discussed prior.
